Ajax have secured the services of promising defender Mike van der Hoorn from Utrecht for an undisclosed fee, according to the club's official website.
The Netherlands Under-21 international will sign a four-year deal with the Eredivisie champions upon completion of his medical.
The
Amsterdam giants were keen to add a new centre-back to their squad due
to the expected departure of Toby Alderweireld this summer and they see
Van der Hoorn as the ideal replacement for the Belgium international.
Van der Hoorn is a product of the Utrecht youth academy and had developed into an important first team member at the Domstedelingen since his debut in 2010-11.
The
20-year-old was part of the Netherlands squad that made it to the
semi-finals of the European U-21 championship in Israel this summer.
